Multi Award Winning Landscape Design & Build, Consultancy & Contract Management.
Design, Construction & Aftercare
Experience, attention to detail, creativity, and an 'eye' for what looks right have enabled us to win very many awards over the years, it's also allowed us, on a number of occassions to be way ahead of our time.
(we started a world wide blog & podcast, some years back it's called 'Growing Trends' you can find us on iTunes or www.growingtrends.org )
The picture above is from a classic French village, in this case it was a restaurant we stopped at during a summer vacation. It was special because it drew the eye and the multitude of geraniums seemed to go on for ever. Red is by the way a great attention grabbing colour !
Sometimes a garden landscape just seems to ‘pop’ right out at you, you become almost spellbound by its balance and harmony. This doesn’t happen by chance very often. It is a result of a client choosing the right designer and then working together as a team to create a dream. A living stage if you will , that constantly changes with the seasons, and yet develops into this amazing restful, visual smorgasbord of colour, contrast and functionality.
Today I thought it might be fun to show some projects under construction, you will notice that most are ordered, very little mess to clutter the picture ( the cleaner you can keep a site the more efficient and the higher the final quality often is).
So with out further ado, here are a few true craftsmen at work.
Here's a typical project, we conceived & designed. This award winning project is in Independence, Missouri.
Here's another award winning project. This project is in Chislehurst, England, for a recently retired lady. It's a classic example of a mediterranean, very low aftercare garden using natural granite setts as a path, with a planted gravel 'lawn', water usage is also minimalised using this style of landscape.
First impressions are always important, here we have a much larger residential project in England,we have utilised a unique bound gravel system, with a triple brick gulley. The gravel is bonded to the surface creating a waterproof membrane and reducing the scattering of the stones that most driveways like this endure, yet there is still sufficient loose material to keep that 'scrunchy' sound so typical of this type of surface
We've also solved a few "Commercial " design requirements over the years. This early award winning 'Green Roof' in KIngston upon Thames, circa 1984 required us to develop our own 'GRP' rock planters, to contain the planting compost and help 'anchor' the planters on the roof - one did 'fly away' during a particularly strong storm, happily we recovered the undamaged 'rock' from the market square the next day.
Here's one of the GRP modules we developed..enabling us to provide sufficient growing medium for the plants to thrive.
We've also turned our skills to Schools. Here another award winning project - a quiet garden, for an inner city school. Designed as a river bank with traditional natural materials, an Oast House along with a Kentish Barn. Ceramic fish are set into the dry river bed and mock sailing boats with living tree masts ( to provide shade), are seen floating on the dry river bed.
The secret, to a successful project is listening to clients & then attention to detail, oh and where ever possible using naturally occuring materials.
